Baby Shoe Edit

Up until I had baby Sophie I didn’t really get baby shoes. Babies don’t walk, why do they need shoes, that cost loads and they grow out of them so fast? It is because they are cute. Very cute. Also, now it is chilly they do keep little ones feet nice a toastie warm. So here are some of my favourites I found and love, some from the big brands and others from little independent companies, so I hope I’ve given you some ideas for your Christmas shopping!

CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE  For the girls

Does she like to sort or scribble? Sparkle or shine? We’ve got things to wear, things to do, toys to keep her busy and an accessory or two to stop her raiding your wardrobe (yeah, as if that’ll ever happen. Well, maybe when she’s 16 and Mum is suddenly ‘too old and uncool’, wahhh…). The beautifully made wooden biscuits from Ella James will set those tea parties off a treat, or maybe she’d prefer to create a row of origami creatures. For tinies we have adorable two-tone leather shoes from Little Lulu’s…

little lulu’s lovely leather shoes REVIEW

It’s very clear that Caspian is ready to move. He’s up on all fours rocking back and forth with a big grin on his face. He’s learnt to pull himself along especially if there is anything he’s not meant to touch within reach. Why is it that a piece of paper or the cord from the hoover is so much more interesting than any sparkly, bright, colourful, and safe toy? So baby proofing the house is definitely on the cards for us. He’s has also loved standing up since he was only a couple of months old, so guessing he’ll be an early walker.

Created by Catriona Alfaham, Little Lulu’s presents a beautiful range of high-quality baby shoes. With 11 years of experience in the footwear ad accessory industry, Catriona began designing this gorgeous range of baby shoes after the birth of her daughter, Layla. The initial plan was for a small-scale, local project, but as she became more immersed in her work, Catriona realised that this was a brand with a big statement to make.

BUBBLE & SPEAK MEETS LITTLE LULU’S

This July, luxury footwear brand Little Lulu’s beat off seriously stiff competition to become our S/S16 Rising Star. The judges – CWB’s Laura Turner, Little Style Fix’s Emma Smith, Lucy Ives of Willo Baby and Childrenswear and Bubble Chop’s Wing Yin Man – loved its exquisite, Italian-made baby shoes, which are modelled on ‘big person’ styles. We’ve been catching up with the brand’s founder, footwear enthusiast and mumpreneur Catriona Alfaham…

Catriona, could you tell us a bit about yourself? Do you have a background in fashion and design?

I have always loved shoes, ever since I was very young – so I went to Cordwainers’ College to study footwear and accessory design. I have been working in the fashion industry for the last 11-12 years as handbag designer, while maintaining my love of shoes.

Bubble London SS16

I have been attending Bubble London for several years now and was honoured a few months ago to be asked to be a judge for the events Rising Star Award which recognises the best debuting launch brand at the show.

Little Lulu’s was crowned the winner- offering the most adorable pre-walker shoes with an on-trend/mini me aesthetic. These would make the ideal gift for a new born and would look beautiful displayed in a childs room long after they have been outgrown. So huge congrats to the brand who now receive a free stand for the following show, guaranteeing a second season in front of some of the best buyers in the industry.

BUBBLE AND SPEAK

Bubble London has wrapped for another season! And, just in case you missed our S/S16 edition, we’ve put together an exclusive post-show round-up. Here are the highlights – from Perfect Pitches, to a new Rising Star and a rather special photoshoot…

This season, fourteen launch-brands went head-to-head for our world-renowned Rising Star award. We saw hand-drawn prints from BBbambino, vintage inspired girlswear from Australia’s Tinker and Boo, and customisable dresses by Model My Own – but, ultimately, Little Lulu’s stole the show.
